The Rampur Raza Library is a treasure house of Indo
Islamic learning and Art. It was founded by Nawab
Faizullah Khan in 1774 AD. His descendants continued
to enrich the collection. After the independence and
merger of Rampur State in the Union of India, the
library was brought under the management of a Trust
till the Govt. of India took over the library on 1st
July 1975 under the Act of Parliament which declared
it as an institution of National importance. Its affairs
are managed by the Rampur Raza Library Board whose
Chairman is H.E. Governor of U.P.

Dr,
W.H. Siddiqi is currently Officer on Special Duty at Rampur
Raza Library, Rampur. He is a distinguished archeologist,
art historian, epigraphist and numismatist of
India. Retired from the post of Director, Expedition
Abroad, Archeological Survey of India, he has
explored and |
excavated scores of archaeological sites including
Kalibanga, Purana Qila, Dak Patthar, Rishikesh,
Champaner, Fatehpur Sikri etc. Beside he was responsible
for the scientific conservation of dozens of national
monument including the famous Angkorwat temple
in Combodia. He participates in many International
symposia in more than fifteen countries and was
elected Vice-President of Silk Route Project of
UNESCO at Alma-Ata (Kazakhastan) in 1985.
